I am Lisa Dowd originator and owner of A Shot of Java for the past 6 years. Together with her husband Kelly we are now the operators of A Shot of Java. I thought that since you have taken the time to visit our website and/or store that we'd give you a little history about A Shot of Java and introduce ourselves with a couple of short bios.  This way, if you haven't yet visited us in the store, we won't be strangers!

Once upon a time...

There was an x-ray technician. We'll call her "Lisa."  Lisa loved what she was doing, but realized that one of the voices in her head was just a little louder than the others.  It was calling to her from the part of the brain that is closest to the heart, and it spoke with the distinct dialect of a coffee bean.

One day, an opportunity presented itself that would allow Lisa to open her own coffee bar in a salon and spa in Old Town Scottsdale.  Loving both coffee and a great challenge, she jumped at the chance!  After studying and developing her knowledge of coffees, teas, and becoming a barista, it was time to take the leap of working out of her own shop.

Lisa moved her business to Historic Downtown Glendale where she opened Bags and Beans, a coffee bar and ladies accessory store.  Although a success, that little voice inside convinced her that her love for 'all things coffee' was consuming her.  It was then that Bags and Beans gave way to the dream of a girl and her espresso machine.

After five years, that dream is stronger than ever.  Take some great coffee, hard work, strong customer service, honesty, and integrity; add live music, poetry, original works of art, wonderful, loyal, and supportive3 customers, and you have...A SHOT OF JAVA!
